i read a recent article on this talented speedy outfielder from Wisconsin by the name of Montaous Walton, he has good speed obviously and average bat speed, from what i understand the kid has major stolen base instincts racking up 22 stolen bases in 06 which appears to be a season high for him...dont be surprised when he ends up leading whatever conference he plays in in stolen bases.

from the article it says he attends UW-whitewater after transferring from Division 1 Eastern Michigan university.

yes i remember watching my nephew game and i remember seeing this kid play two summers ago, he transferred to UW-Whitewater? i was wondering what school he went to, he has amazing speed in the outfield and on the basepaths
from watching him play i can see that he has the wheels to stretch singles into doubles and doubles into triples. i have to agree he is underrated but as a witness he has alot of potential and talent.

thats good talent, i heard he runs a 6.4/6.5 in the 60 yard dash, WOW! thats major league speed, i also heard he was recruited by big name schools like arizona state, purdue, Kansas eastern michigan western michigan and central michigan During his highschool days.

man he runs like that in the 60 -yard dash? thats cool, never really saw him, but i heard alot about him and from what i hear he's sort of compared to former major leaguer Bip Roberts speed wise. bip roberts was a very quick player from the 80's i remember him from when he played with the padres.

anyhow bip roberts had great running speed, stealing ability and also baserunning instincts and only stood 5-foot-7 or 8 and again hell of quick
to me thats a good compliment for this young underrated prospect.

dang he must be a hell of a player,  and he must be underrated, but you got to understand, most players that are underrated at the highschool or college level, normally surprise alot of scouts and teams. from reading all of this about this young man he could be possibly a sleeper in the draft this year or next or even a good signed undrafted free agent if someone signs him after not getting picked. i know if i was a scout or team i would definitely not pass the talent up, this youn man has.

the draft is looking good this year, and from reading about montaous he has another year of college eligibility left in 2009, my opinion, is that he should play and be productive that last year and raise his draft stock up a little higher and maybe...just maybe..he may be a top outfielder. if he can still 22 bases im sure he can go for 30 or more. however if he decides to test the draft this year he may be a possible sandwich pick in the draft or even an undrafted free agent.

there is nothing wrong with being an undrafted free agent all it means is that you have to work hard in minor league camp. there are many undrafted free agents on today's major league roster. i do agree on one thing, if he wants to be picked in the top 15 or 20 that last year of eligibility will do him good. otherwise if he feels he, scouts or clubs think he is ready then i would say go for it, because 90 some odd percent of major league players were signed as undrafted free agents.

both you guys are nuts, from reading up on this guy, he seem to be possibly sitting out this season due to his grades if im not mistaken. although he did have a stellar year in 06 and an okay year in 07, im sure he can possibly be signed by someone. there are many scouting combines, baseball academy;s and major league baseball scouting bureaus that players attend. im sure he will be fine if he works out for people over the summer, but even if he does'nt get signed, he can always return to school in top notch shape and possibly dominate next season, to improve his stock value and put his name out there a little more.

Are you guys blind or not watching baseball at all? This guy is clearly fluke! Have you read ALL of the articles on this guy. He has made everything up. I have a good friend that is a reporter and he told me everything about this guy. He is such a character. He never played for any of the college. He played baseball at Madison high school with one of my friends and my friend said he was decent, not a superstar. I also heard from another guy name Montez that he tried to play for a community college out in Chicago, IL and he couldn't make that team. Don't be fooled guys. Read what the Courier put up and the law suite that the Seven Bridges Group and the MLB has against him. This guy isn't going to the majors, he's going to jail!

I was contacted by Montaous Walton to represent him as an agent.  The first thing he wanted was for me to pay his phone bill.  Then he asked me for cash advances.  He told me he signed a contract with the Blue Jays and then his story fell apart after I questioned him on the details.  I am an attorney and before our phone conversation was over, I knew he was an imposter.  Do not fall for any of it.  He should be prosecuted soon.

Whoa! Wow! All of this for a nobody? I have read a lot of different stories about Montaous. Most of them he wrote himself lol...but yea, the kid is lying.

Think Montaous must have read the old SI article on Sidd Finch a few too many times, the kid has some serious mental issues. I watched him play at Madison HS in Milwaukee, I taught there at the time & coached elsewhere, he was awful.....Not even close to being the best player on that team, more like the worst......he's a disgrace to the game, I'm glad they're putting him away for a while, he needs the help.....

thats pretty wrong to talk so much trash about montaous when in truth is he was probably the 3rd best player on his team back in highschool, and for the record he has no mental problems he is very intelligent, that just got caught up in legal trouble due to the fact he was nieve and met two shady grimey agents that was representing him, I am very close to his family and from what i know, He is a very talented baseball player that just made bad judgment, him being put away in jail? i doubt that......anyway i also found out that those two dumb agents that invested money in him, was stupid, inexperienced and was never Licensed by the MLB to even represent baseball players......so who is the bad guy?......montaous surely made a mistake but that does not define who he is as a person, so people that dont know him need to stop passing judgment without knowing the actual facts other than what is on the Net......

that is so true, dude never stole money or did anything wrong Besides Accepting money that those agents gave him to sign with them, Which is not a surprise at all this type of stuff happens in all sports including football and basketball the problem with this situation is that it was taken wayyy too far from what i heard montaous took whatever they invested in him, phone, flights and money in exchange that he would of Repayed them back once he actually signed on with a team, but the buisness Relationship that they had went sour and the two sides had a bad fallout which Resulted in the tow shady bogus agents presing charges against Walton for what they given him......if you really think about tit and do the math that situation was never about Baseball or bluejays itself it was more about two disgruntled bitter inexperienced Agents that wanted everything they gave montaous back, hell if you ask me it should of been taken to civil or small claims court, but hey it is what it is, hopefully montaous can learn from all of that and really get his life and career back in order personally im rooting for dude

He will get a shot at playing somewhere, theres no doubt about that,  i mean yeah he made a mistake, but he will play somewhere even if its internationally overseas, but then again there are all types of pro leagues even here in the united states

OMG !!! i ran into him over the summer down at the lakefront with 4 other people and when i asked was he still gonna pursue baseball he said yeah and seemed pretty calmed and laid back...my daddy knew him and use to always say good things about montaous, i hope he do keep chasing his dream and play somewhere good, i just think he got caught up with the wrong agents in the past that was out to make him look bad in public after the fallout between them, i was told the situation was pretty minor and that he is good enough to play professionally his mistake was he was naive and was involved with two inexperienced black agents that had no idea what they were doing or how to rep.....all is well with montaous i hope he get another shot and /second chance to achieve his dreams and goals

now i am not the one to judge anyone becuz i dont know neither the two agents or walton, but i do know for a fact that the agent industry is very cut throat and most of these agents are actually out here scheming and doing anything they possibly can to get these young men to sign with them, some would even go as far as offering not just airfare but money, clothes, jewelry, Women (particularly prosptitutes ) and even at times going as far as buying that player a Car, house etc truth is nobody will ever know what really went down between those two crooked agents and montaous only ones that really know will be them so to see alot of whats out there on articles and blogs about the situation we cant always believe everything we read or hear because no one knows the actual truth to make a long story short alot of these young men that athletically gifted need to be very careful in who to trust and who to represent them because its always a string attach when agents lash out gifts, if montaous plan to continue trying to play ball thats good for him but personally i think folks should go overseas and play over there to get a fresh start im js

i was reading media outlets and alot of them seem to be incorrect about what actually happened, i actually know montaous and his family his mother is very sweet, anyway montaous is indeed avery talented baseball player who has made a mistake by dealing with as we all know two crooked/shady sports agents who were dumb as a box of rocks smh...from the information i received the two agents were partners before one agent fired the other agent because he was too inexperienced and did not know what he was doing, but the ultimate fallout came when montaous found out that both agents were shady and not being able to treat  clients the right way so they parted ways and amonth later the agents schemed threatening to go to the media to humilate walton if he did not give them the investments back that they gave him, walton agreed to give them what they gave him but the two agents still went to the Press slandering walton which was really wrong, i hope montaous end up playing somewhere and starting fresh because he deserves it hopefully with an MLB team if not then maybe overseas or indy ball, but either way i believe he is capable of playing somewhere

i would say he  should just go overseas and play or tryout/workout  that will probably do him good because then he can hopefully get picked up by an MLB team if he do good over there im rooting for him and will love to see him play somewhere just as long as its not the Yankees LMAO

i recently spoke to a MLB executive about montaous and was curious to know how good he really is and that particular executive response was that montaous has the potential to play at the professional level, but he needs to apply himself harder and add a little more muscle on him his past off the field incident wont affect him at all and given that he is in his mid-late 20's the Independent league will be a good start to go since guys get picked up by the the majors all the time in the independent league which ever route he takes to get there i wish him the best of luck

truth is montaous is only in his prime and is under the age of 30, he is only in his late 20's with alot of experience, as far as his past goes, teams are looking past that because he has turned his life around the man deserves a second chance just like anybody else so with that being said im rooting for the guy and would like to see him play some where and his career is still good there are many pro leagues he can participate in that will lead him to majors many players do it all the time

there are many talented players in their mid to late 20's playing in a lot of different  pro leagues, for example there is the Can-am league, international league, independent leagues, puerto rico baseball league, Venezuela Mexico etc...and those players players are almost guaranteed to play in the majors, honestly from all the people i spoke to walton has the drive and talent to make it if he participate in one of the pro leagues

Also, all of your posts have the same grammatical issues. Makes it pretty obvious.

Googling Montaous's name after reading the SBNation article, this was the first result that came up. Seeing this and other examples of his postings online firsthand is really fascinating. Seeing that his last postings here were only from a few weeks ago is a bit sad. You'd hope that he'd give it up after a while and move on, but I guess that's not so easy to do.

Seriously, how much have literacy levels plummeted that someone could read those and take them seriously.

Amazing.  I'm going to read some more - they're ridiculous but addictive.

If you know a thing or 2 about grammar, you can tell that Montaous is personally repsonsible for basically every posting on this thread that is even remotely positive.  The guy's a scammer and a fraud; you have to respect the persistence and tenacity, but it leaves you wondering what he could have been (outside the world of Baseball) if he had focused those efforts on something real.  Sad Story.

Montaous, don't you want something real in your life? To do something real, that you and your family can be proud of? You don't have to be a famous baseball player. I find it so sad that you've made this whole pretend world for yourself, and its gotten so big and out-of-hand that the only thing you can do is keep pretending. Everybody knows. The only person still living in your pretend-world is you. Respect your family, your friends and ultimately yourself enough to come clean and start something real.

Montaous, I KNOW you are reading this.  Please seek medical attention!  You need help.  This is really sad to read.  You are not a ball player.  you are not a prospect.  you are just a guy with no job living off of the rest of us with no contribution to society.  Get help and make something of your life.  It is over and actually never really stared for you, bro.  GET HELP!!!!

This dude is SERIOUSLY sick.  He needs MENTAL HELP.  It's too bad his family doesn't start an intervention but they seem to point fingers and pass blame.  But seriously, he needs to be seeing a doctor for this obsession he has.  It is not right.

Like many others here, I just read the article on SB Nation and it really touched something in me so I did a search on Montaous Walton and here I am.

I really don't know what to think of this story but I know that the easy thing to do is judge.

I've always had a hard time with dishonesty, lying myself and with people lying to me but I feel for Montaous. He has a dream and can't give it up, who hasn't been there. He lied to others to make himself look better than he really is, who hasn't done that. Montaous laughs when he lies, well I smile when I'm nervous.

Obviously, he got in trouble for lying, he conned others under false pretense and was reprimanded for it and he's still doing it but from what it seems and it seems desperate, the gig is up, no one is going to believe anything positive written about Montaous as a baseball player ever, yet the posts continues. To whom are these post trying to fool really?

What is the purpose of sports anyways? What about the professional sports? Why is it so important to us that it can make people lie, cheat and hurt others? What dream is Montaous really chasing?

I do feel you are trying your best and I do hope that one day you will play on a baseball team, one that will be of you for wearing their uniform but I don't think it will be the big leagues or any other professional league, it's just be full of people that play baseball just for the sake of playing baseball.

The title of this thread is not a lie, Montaous is a top, underrated prospect but just not a baseball prospect. He's a Top, Underrated Human Prospect and being Human is so much more than just being a baseball player.

I've got my own issues and deal with them my own way.

"How are you?"

"I'm fine"

bottom line is the man living his life, he was arrested last year for being accused of fraud but in reality he got off and living his life...do the math the man got his freedom and turned his life around for the better regardless of what public opinion thinks, the fact is in the eyes of the court of the law he is basically innocent and got let off the hook and moved on with his life
